Ian Surfman's Ultimate Backup System

These are all the components that I u sed to back up my data!!

Backup backup and more backup!

The question is not when to back up? The question is when you will lose your data?

I have seen countless people losing data, time after time.

Even myself, I had lost data in a disaster way couple times.

You don't want that to happen to your personal pictures, important documents, your business data...etc.

You must backup on a regular basis!! Or else, one day, you will lose data.

There is no luck in terms of back up. Computer is not reliable, you must have a copy. One day, soon or later, your hard drive will die. And you must back up.

On the left is my 160 GB Maxtor backup device that I use to backup all MP3 and VIDEO.

On the right, is my 40 GB Yearly & Monthly Backup. I sort my data by the back up frequency. There are Yearly, Monthly, Weekly, Daily and Randomly.

Data that I don't change all the time, I put them into Yearly folder.

Data that I update monthly, I put them into monthly folder.

Data that I change frequently, I put them into Weekly Data.

The only Daily back up I have is my contact list and schedule which store in my Outlook and Sync with my Palm Zire21.

These are the best USB drives that I ever found on the market. They are

1. Washable: You can through them into water and wash them.

2. Anti shock: You can through this thing into the air and let it drop on the floor.

3. Passworded: You can let a theif steal your data and they can't open it.

The left usb drive is where I store all my passwords, and very important documents.

The centre usb drive is a duplicate of the left one.

The right usb drive is where I store my weekly backup.

The one on the left is a 8 MB usb drive that I back up files for my server machine. So if there is a crash on my server, I will still have all the data.

The middle usb drive is a 256 MB watch drive that I use to back up all my accounting infomation.

The right usb drive is a 4 GB drive that I use to back up all my photos.
